A factional Chairman of the All Progressive Congress in Enugu State, Okey Ogbodo, says that President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit on Jan. 24 will end party crisis in the state. Ogbodo said all warring factions of the party had put aside their grievances in a bid to put out a united front for the party in the coming election.
He said all party stakeholders had been having series of meeting in preparation to receive the president and win election in the state.
He said: “We are burying the hatchet and any form of faction because we don’t want individual differences to rob us of victory at the coming poll. However, that aside, everyone is being carried along regardless of faction. We had a meeting last week Saturday and just yesterday, we had another one at the campaign office of the President and his Vice. The essence of which is to prepare for the Buhari’s visit and gain an overwhelming vote in the state in the 2019 polls that is close.”
Ogbodo noted that the series of meeting had been one that was all embracing, inclusive and that had made the different parties get along and happy.
According to him, preparations to give the president a rousing and befitting welcome come Jan. 24 for re-election campaign is in top gear.
The factional chairman said that party members in rural and urban areas as well as lovers of Buhari outside of the party had been duly sensitized.
On the need to support the re-election bid of President Buhari, he said PMB was a friend of the Igbos who is keen on handing over power to them in 2023.
He said: “We, Igbos, yearning for full integration into mainstream politics cannot achieve this ambition outside of APC and without PMB’s support. APC is only a platform to attain national integration because it is a national platform and currently the biggest in Africa.”
Ogbodo said PMB’s visit would be a unifying factor for the party especially the warring factions so we can back a sole candidate to victory in the governance of the state.
He said: “All party leaders and PMB himself are aware of the current development among APC members in the state including the court judgment and cases.
“I believe they will have a plan to reconcile all factions without the feeling of being cheated.”
