Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural Organization says they are not against the 2019 ambition of the People’s Democratic Party, Presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
Reacting to a story published in the national dailies where Ohanaeze denies endorsing Atiku, Chuks Ibegbu, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the organization said: “People should not have misconception over this issue because we are not saying Ohanaeze is against Atiku but we have not endorsed anybody yet and we will meet soon to decide on that.
“The Nike Lake event held on November 14, where Atiku was adopted by some Igbo leaders for presidency was not organized by Ohanaeze Ndigbo but by Atiku/Obi friends and associates as well as support group and that adoption was made by friends of Atiku.
“We shall meet soon to discuss on restructuring and other issues as well as party ready to restructure Nigeria for the interest of everybody before the Imobi of Ohanaeze which is the highest organ of Ohanaeze would now take decision on candidates to support in 2019,” he said.
It could be recalled that Ohanaeze Ndigbo, recently in a press briefing in Enugu to mark the second anniversary of the current executive of the organization denied endorsing Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
Ibegbu said that Ohanaeze Ndigbo has been canvassing for Igbo sons and daughters to identify with candidates that will restructure Nigeria.
