Senatorial candidate of the Action Alliance, AA in Ondo North senatorial district, Tunji Abayomi, has dispelled a report that the party has no candidate for the election.
The report had claimed that the party violated the electoral law in the area of primary and substitution of candidates list to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Speaking in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Monday, Abayomi said some people in the All Progressives Congress, who were not comfortable with the popularity of the AA’s candidates in the state were behind the report. According to him, the emergence of the AA in the state for the forthcoming election had become a source of worry to the the ruling APC .
He said, “The AA submitted the names of its candidates both at the initial level as well as at the substitution level. If they are talking about the primary, I want to tell you that INEC’s supervision or non-supervision of primary cannot validate a primary because primary does not belong to INEC; primary belongs to the party.”
