Lagos- Gunmen kill man, his two sons

images

It was harvest of tears on Thursday in the Ipakodo, Ikorodu area of Lagos State, after some gunmen invaded a house and murdered a man and his two sons.
The suspects, who killed the man identified as Celestine Nwokoye, and his sons, also shot his wife and his two daughters, who are battling for their lives at the moment.

The wife and the injured daughters were said to have been rushed to the Ikorodu General Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment, Punch reports.
A resident of Ebute, who visited the scene, but did not want his name in print, said the attackers were suspected to assassins.

He said, “The man’s house is located on Agbose Street, off Oluodo Junction. He worked at a taxi park in the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja. The killers came on Thursday morning. They shot him and all the members of his family. He and two male children died instantly, while they left his wife and the two daughters with bullet injuries.

“The attackers were not robbers; they went to only the man’s apartment. I was told that they did not take away any property. That is why everyone suspects that the killers were sent. They shot all members of his family presumably, so that no one would be able to report to the police.

“But policemen from the Ipakodo division later came to our area to take photographs and remove the bodies. The policemen were all over our area.”
A landlord, identified only as Abimbola, told newsmen that the attackers could also be suspected rapists, known popularly in the area as Badoo, who had been terrorising and attacking residents.

“A week ago, a man and his child were attacked and stabbed to death in the Oke-Awori community in the Ibeshe area. Armed rapists, known as Badoo, attacked the man and his child. They stabbed them to death. So, I suspect the attackers of Nwokoye could be Badoo. The police have a lot of work to do in our area,” he added.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, who confirmed the deaths, added that command had got some leads on the incident, and investigation was ongoing.

She said, “There was a report that the man and all members of his family were found in a pool of blood. He and his two male children were confirmed dead.

“His wife and two daughters were also seriously injured and they have been taken to a hospital for treatment.

“The command is working assiduously to unravel the occurrence. We have some leads which we are working on, and we are optimistic of breaking through.”

The incident is coming barely four weeks after suspected cult members shot dead four persons at 24 Road, in the Igbogbo, Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

Ugandan Pastor tells church members to burn the Bible, says it is misleading them (Photos)

A Ugandan pastor of House of Prayer ministries, Aloysius Bugingo allegedly gathered all his church members Bibles on Easter Monday and burned them because he thinks it’s misleading them.

According to the report by Zambezi Reporters,  he says that Bibles like the King James version and the New Testament, have been tampered with and some verses omitted.

Pastor Bugingo said that the lines talking about the Fasting and Lent, in general, were erased and that the word “ Holy Ghost ” appears a whopping 99 times yet the word “Holy Spirit” appears only seven times.

He therefore, requested members of his congregation to collect all the said Bible versions and set them ablaze.

CBN to Sustain Forex Intervention, Releases Fresh $418m

The apex bank of Nigeria has moved to boost the value of the naira in the local market by pumping more forex into the economy.
The Central Bank of Nigeria on Sunday vowed to sustain its intervention in the foreign exchange market to ensure liquidity in that segment of the financial sector.
The Acting Director, Corporate Communications, CBN, Mr. Isaac Okorafor, stated this in a statement issued in Abuja.
He said as part of its determination to make forex available to genuine users, the apex bank on Friday auctioned the sum of $418m at the retail segment at the rate of N310 to a dollar.
He gave the sectors of the economy that benefitted from the intervention as aviation, agriculture, petroleum and raw materials/machineries.
The statement  read in part, “In its avowed determination to ensure ample supply of foreign exchange liquidity in the market, the Central Bank of Nigeria on Friday, 7th of April, 2017 auctioned the sum of $418m at a marginal rate of N310/$.

“This was in addition to the sum of $350m sold as wholesale auction during the week. In the weeks ahead, the CBN will sustain its intervention through the sale of foreign exchange to all segments of the market.”
The statement said the CBN would sell short-tenured forwards of seven-day to 30-day maturity to meet the demand of manufacturers and all other foreign exchange users.
The apex bank said the injection of foreign exchange into the market should reassure all users of its determination to continue to meet all legitimate forex demand in the market.
It added that the intervention was part of measures to achieve exchange rate stability in the financial market.
